Mitigation Banks

Mitigation banking unites sound environmental and economic practices to restore and enhance wetlands and other natural resources, offsetting unavoidable losses in advance of development actions. These "credits" — units of restored, created, enhanced or preserved areas — may then be withdrawn to offset "debits" incurred at a project development site.

Forestar actively participates in mitigation banking, utilizing statewide mitigation banking instruments throughout Texas and Georgia. We leverage our mitigation credits as both part of our own environmental stewardship efforts, and as a revenue-generation activity through the sale of our credits to third parties.

Purchasing or accessing mitigation credits offers numerous benefits, including reduced permit processing times, more cost-effective restoration of natural resources, reduction of risk and responsibility, and assured environmental sustainability.
