Water is our most fundamental natural resource, but has been largely taken for granted.
Water is a vital resource that impacts almost everything we do. We depend upon water for drinking, hygiene, and for recreation. Water is critical to the farmers and ranchers who grow our food and to utility companies for generating power. We need water to support a vibrant and growing economy, and to sustain the environment we are committed to protecting for future generations. However, water has been largely taken for granted.
Many communities will need to acquire additional sources of water to support future demand. These sources may include securing access to existing groundwater or constructing new surface reservoirs. Forestar is committed to providing thoughtful and balanced solutions for groundwater resources.
Another component of our water strategy is mitigation. Growing economies may require mitigation credits to offset the potential environmental impacts of development in areas close to our land holdings that are suitable as a source for mitigation credits.
