Seeing the Future of Water
Forestar creates value through compensatory mitigation, uniting sound economic and environmental practices.
Changing land uses and increasing environmental requirements are increasing demand for mitigation credits. Forestar generates mitigation credits through its ongoing efforts to restore, create, enhance or preserve wetlands and streams. These credits can then be sold to others and, under federal and state environmental laws, used to offset environmental impacts of development. Forestar owns approximately 11,000 acres identified as holding potential for generating mitigation credits in Georgia and Texas. Forestar provides compensatory mitigation for project impacts to streams, wetlands and protected species by restoring, enhancing and preserving the ecosystems within the properties that we own.
Forestar owns thousands of acres of property across Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and Georgia and has the regulatory expertise to help our partners establish the credits needed to offset project mitigation needs. Forestar can assist a company with mitigation challenges and lay the groundwork for future success.
